“Our batters let us down”: Shubman Gill after GT’s defeat
Gujarat Titans copped a huge defeat against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow, making it their second straight defeat in the tournament. LSG outdid GT in all departments to continue having a successful winning streak.
A superb batting, coupled with a terrific bowling, helped LSG outplay Gujarat Titans. Marcus Stoinis hammered his eighth half-century in the IPL, meanwhile, Yash Thakur and Krunal Pandya claimed five and three wickets each to help the side win the match by (33) runs.
It, however, remained incredibly surprising from GT batters, not seeming up to the task and losing their wickets at regular intervals. GT skipper Shubman Gill attributed team’s poor batting to their big loss in the match.
“To be honest, It was a good wicket to bat on, a poor batting performance by us. We got a decent start, but we lost wickets in the middle and were not able to recover from that,” Shubman Gill said during the post-match presentation.
“Our bowlers were exceptional to be able to restrict them, on a wicket like this, to 160. We were looking at about 175-180, but to be able to get them at 160 was tremendous efforts by our bowlers, but our batters let us down."
David Miller missed GT’s game due to an injury as Gill felt Miller is a match-winner and can change the game anytime.
“He (Miller) is a kind of a player who can change the game for you anytime. We had a couple of hinges in this game, but irrespective of that this total was very gettable for us," Gill said.
