Sunrisers Hyderabad have roped in Vijayakanth Viyaskanth as the replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga who was ruled out of the tournament on Saturday following an injury. Vijayakanth, who too is a Sri Lankan player, has been signed at his base price of INR 50 lakh.

Wanindu Hasaranga was being expected to join SRH after the franchise bought him for INR 1.5 crore at the IPL auction last year in December. Hasaranga was released by RCB ahead of the IPL auction 2024. Due to a chronic pain in his left heel, Hasaranga failed to join the team.

Vijayakanth, who was part of Sri Lanka’s squad at the asian games last year, has represented Sri Lanka in one T20I. He has played 33 T20s so far, picking up 33 wickets. He has also played for Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League.
