Dazzling debut for Fraser-McGurk, launches DC to a much-needed win
Making his impact straight away with a blazing half-century, Fraser-McGurk made a staggering IPL debut leading Delhi Capitals to a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Friday at Ekana Sports City. The power-hitter smashed six towering sixes in his impressive knock. Chasing a passable total of (167), set by LSG after deciding to bat, DC opener Prithvi Shaw started off well for the team, producing (32), including six boundaries.
Meanwhile, David Warner failed to make his mark, making only eight runs. But, to get the things in order, Jake and Rishabh Pant brought up 35-ball 55 and 24-ball 41 respectively, laying the foundation for a team's much-needed win. As for LSG, it was a horrendous start for them after Kuldeep Yadav, recently returned to action, sent Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran in back-to-back dismissals.
KL Rahul seemed to be leading the charge but Kuldeep struck in the tenth over, making him his third scalp. Lower the order, Ayush Badoni’s (55) put LSG into a comfortable situation as they managed to record a fighting score.
Fraser-McGurk had been on the sidelines, waiting patiently for the opportunity to arrive, and when it did, he did exactly what everyone must have expected of him. Jake played a relentless and composed innings, announcing himself as the terrific performer.
