Rishabh Pant named as India announce squad for T20I World Cup

India have announced their much-awaited squad for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2024 to be played in West Indies and USA from June 1. Hardik Pandya has been appointed vice captain in India’s squad that will be captained by Rohit Sharma.

Rishabh Pant is marking his return to team India for the first time since suffering life-threatening injuries during a car crash accident in December 2022. Rishabh Pant recently made his return to action to play IPL, having remained on the sidelines for one and a half years due to injuries. Yuzvendra Chahal has made the cut on the back of his scintillating performances in the ongoing IPL. Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson have also been picked up in the squad. There was no place for KL Rahul, with Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant being included in the squad. 

India have gone with four spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal. Pace attack includes Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are capable of providing batting impetus as well down the order. India will kick off their World Cup campaign with the match against Ireland on June 5.
