Balbarnie stars as Ireland record maiden win over Pakistan in T20Is

In a massive win for Ireland ahead of the T20I World Cup, they thrashed Pakistan by five wickets in the first T20I on Friday at Clontarf Cricket Club in what was their maiden victory over Pakistan in T20Is. Andrew Balbarnie led the way for Ireland, pounding Pakistan’s bowling attack with his (77) off (55). Curtis Campher, who was unbeaten on (15 off 7) alongside Gareth Delany took the leg by off the second-last ball to seal the historic win with one ball to spare.
Chasing the total of 182, Ireland lost Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker in quick succession, however Andrew Balbirnie remained solid at the other end, frustrating Pakistan bowlers. Harry Tector and George Dockrell supported Balbarnie’s knock with their scores of (36) and (24) respectively.
Earlier, Pakistan, asked to bat, were powered to (182), with Saim Ayub making (45), and skipper Babar Azam scoring his half-century (57). Mohammad Rizwan was run out by Harry Tector, while Azam Khan and Shadab Khan went back without scoring. Iftikhar Ahmed propelled the side down the order, making (37) unbeaten off (15).
