Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs smacked their half-centuries and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma struck with three scalps as Delhi Capitals thrashed Lucknow Super Giants by (19) runs on Tuesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Despite DC winning the game, it still remained a fruitless win for them as their campaign at the IPL is all but over. DC had to win the contest by a huge margin to stand a little chance for playoffs. On top of that, this victory accomplished no result for any side. It also brought the end to LSG’s campaign, yet they have one match to go.

Delhi Capitals, put to bat, lost their young gun Jake Fraser McGurk for a two-ball duck. But, thanks to Abishek Porel and Shai Hope hammering (58 off 33) and (38 off 27) respectively to stitch a 92-run partnership. In the middle, skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs hit (33 off 23) and (57* off 25) respectively to carry the side to a formidable total of 208/4 in (20) overs.

In their chase of a solid total, LSG’s top-order crumbled in quick succession, with DC’s Ishant Sharma striking with three wickets. Dangerous Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan revived the innings, making (61 off 27) and (58* off 33) respectively. Still, LSG fell short, ending their chase on 189/9.
