IPL 2024, Qualifer 2: Race for final heats up as RR hope to capitalise on momentum
In a high-stakes battle, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals are set to face off in Qualifier 2 of the ongoing Indian Premier League on Friday at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This encounter will decide as to which team seals the spot in the final of the IPL 2024. The winner will advance to the final, while the loser will be knocked out of the tournament.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, under the marvellous leadership of Pat Cummins, have displayed extraordinary batting and bowling skills. Their journey to the Qualifier 2 has been marked by standout performances from the destructive pair of openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, who have unleashed their batting carnage time and again, powering SRH to record-breaking totals.
Both batters have been a big revelation with the bat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Pat Cummins and T Natarajan have been crucial in the bowling department. Most of the things for SRH have depended on their openers. Their scoring has played a key role in their victories. SRH will enter this game on the back of a defeat against KKR in the Qualifier 1, but they would look to not let their past defeat hamper their performance in this match.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals gathered the lost momentum after their victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator. Before their victory against RCB, RR were on a four-match losing streak but they broke their losing streak with a comprehensive win. Their victory against RCB will embolden them to face SRH with a renewed vigour.
RR’s batting hasn’t been as formidable as their bowling and they have been successful in recording victories due to their powerful bowling. Riyan Parag has repeatedly been a massive help for RR in their batting attack, producing explosive batting and helping the side record victories. Rajasthan will aim to make it to the final as the batting performance from Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag will be essential.
