Uganda secure their maiden T20I World Cup win

A brilliantly uplifting performance by Uganda handed them their maiden T20I World Cup victory after they overcame Papua New Guinea by three wickets in a low-scoring game on Thursday at Providence Stadium. After receiving a disappointing initiation in their maiden T20I World Cup game against Afghanistan, Uganda made a strong comeback for a historic win. Put into to bat, Papua New Guinea were bowled out by Uganda for (77) to crash to their 3-wicket defeat. Lega Siaka and Hiri Hiri were the top-scorers for PNG with their scores of (12) and (15) respectively.
PNG's top order crumbled in quick succession that disturbed their scoring at the very start. Uganda’s bowler Frank Nsubuga returned with the most economical figures in the history of T20I World Cup, taking two wickets for four runs from his four overs.
In their chase, Uganda were put in a very precarious situation early on, losing their top three batters Roger Mukasa, Simon Ssesazi and Robinson Obuya for 0, 1 and 1 respectively. However, Riazat Ali Shah put the team on course for victory with his much-needed innings of (33 off 56). Uganda went past the target in (18.2) overs, scoring (78) for the loss of (7) wickets.
