Rizwan, bowlers remain defiant to seal first victory for Pakistan

Pakistan romped to their first victory in the ongoing T20I World Cup by defeating Canada by seven wickets on Tuesday, following a challenging start to their campaign with two consecutive losses. In their initial matches, Pakistan faced tough opponents and struggled to find their form, resulting in back-to-back defeats.
A lot of credit goes to Pakistani bowlers for setting the platform for their victory. After asking Canada to bat, Pakistan restricted them for 106 for 7 in 20 overs, with Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf combining to claim two wickets each. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah returned with one wicket each. For Canada, Aaron Johnson top-scored with his 52-run score, firing four boundaries and four sixes.
Chasing the target, Pakistan were off to a shaky start after Saim Ayub, who was brought into the squad in place of Iftikhar Ahmed, was gone for 6. Nonetheless, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam took control of the things, forging a 63-run stand to guide the team out of trouble. Babar, meanwhile, lost his wicket, having added (33). But, Rizwan (53*) stood tall at the other end to take his team over the line with 15 balls to go. This victory not only boosted Pakistan’s confidence but also kept their hopes alive for advancing further in the tournament.
