Spirited USA face dispirited Ireland as Florida remain marooned

News

As USA and Ireland gear up to face each other in a highly anticipated showdown on Friday at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, Pakistan will be looking on anxiously at the outcome of the contest as most of their chances to make it to the Super Eights depend on this clash. More importantly, the showdown remains under huge threat with constant rain battering Florida. Meanwhile, the picture remains quite clear in terms of equations.

If USA win or the match is washed out, they will qualify for the Super 8s easily. If USA lose the contest then their fate will be decided by the outcome of the match between Pakistan and Ireland on Sunday. Pakistan, on the other hand, would only aim to dismantle Ireland to qualify for the next stage.

Talking about the upcoming contest, USA have been largely steadfast in their performance, having won two games out of their three games. They overcame Canada and Pakistan to run their campaign in a bold manner, but India put brakes on their high-flying attitude, beating them by seven wickets. Still, USA kept India in checks, dismissing their top three batters in quick succession and taking the game too deep. But, thanks to SKY and Shivam Dube who both soaked the pressure to take India to a seven-wicket win. USA wouldn’t want nothing more than a win as they prepare to face wounded Ireland, who stand no chance but to play for pride.
