SL-W vs WI-W 2nd T20I: West Indies thrash Sri Lanka to level the series
West Indies Women trounced Sri Lanka Women in the second T20I match by six wickets to level the three-match series 1-1. In the rain-affected match, skipper Hayley Matthews and Stafanie Taylor gave the team an outstanding start in their chase of DLS-adjusted target of 99 in 15 overs. Hayley Matthews lost her wicket for 29, but Stafanie Taylor remained unbeaten on 28 to take the team over the line. West Indies went past the total in 14.1 overs, recording their first victory of the tour.
Earlier, Sri Lanka after being put into bat, found a promising start after Vishmi Gunaratne and skipper Chamari Athapaththu made 24 and 26 respectively, stitching a 49-run partnership. Despite a positive start, Sri Lankan batters didn’t capitalise on a fine start with Imesha Dulani and Harshitha Samarawickrama losing their wickets for 6 and 14 respectively.
Kavisha Dilhari played a late cameo, hitting 14 off 6, including two boundaries. For West Indies, Afy Fletcher claimed four wickets for 23 from her 3.2 overs. Meanwhile, the rain had disrupted the proceedings as Sri Lanka could play till 15.2 overs, scoring 89 for the loss of four wickets.
