What if rain spoils both semi-finals?
The four teams India, England, South Africa and Afghanistan have made it to the semi-finals of the ongoing T20I World Cup 2024. The first semi-final will be played between South Africa and Afghanistan on (June 27, 6:00 AM IST) at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.
While, the semi-final 2 will be played between India and England on Thursday (8:00 PM IST) at Providence Stadium, Guyana. Meanwhile, weather forecasts have predicted heavy rains ahead of both games and rain could play spoilsport.
There is huge chances of rain at both venues. Overcast conditions have been predicted. Amid this, the biggest question remains as to who would qualify if rain ravages the proceedings? As per ICC schedule, 'Reserve Day' is in place for the semi-final first, but there is no reserve day for the second semi-final. If both matches fail to produce the outcome, then teams finishing higher in Group Stage will advance to the final of the tournament.
South Africa are on top in Group 2, thereby they will be securing the final berth in case match doesn’t yield any result. India are also having higher margin in the Group A and will move to the final if game is not possible.
