India’s young guns unleash brutal assault on Zimbabwe
Abhishek Sharma’s blazing 46-ball ton became too hard for Zimbabwe to contain as India delivered a commanding performance in the second T20I to level the five-match series 1-1 on Sunday at Harare. Abhishek Sharma played a crucial role in India's 100-run victory, with his explosive batting display, scoring a remarkable 100 and propelling India to an impressive total of 234/2 in 20 runs. Aside from Abhishek’s outstanding show, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh blazed 77 and 48 unbeaten respectively to further consolidate India.
Defending the formidable total, Indian bowlers effectively stifled Zimbabwe's batting lineup, with Mukesh Kumar snaring opener Innocent Kaia for four. There was a little resistance from Wesley Madhevere and Brian Bennett, scoring 43 and 26 respectively, but it was halted by Ravi Bishnoi and Mukesh Kumar taking out both batters respectively.
Later, there was no significant partnership between Zimbabwe batters as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 134 runs in just 18.4 overs, falling significantly short of the target. Avesh Khan and Mukesh Kumar claimed three scalps each, while Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar took two and one wicket each.
