Shubman Gill blasted a classic knock of 66, while Ruturaj Gaikwad troubled Zimbabwe with his 49 runs as India raced to a 23-run win against Zimbabwe in the third T20I on Friday, taking 2-1 lead in the five-match series. The win has brought India one step closer to claiming the series.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India set a formidable target for Zimbabwe after Shubman Gill drove India to an electrifying start. Yashasvi Jaiswal also slammed 36 off 27 and the destruction from Gaikwad in the middle-order helped India amass 182/4 runs in their 20 overs.

In response, Zimbabwe started their innings on a drowsy note, struggling to keep up with the escalating required run rate. Meanwhile, Indian bowlers maintained tight lines and lengths, making scoring difficult for the Zimbabwe batsmen. Indian bowlers claimed three top-order batters of Zimbabwe in quick succession to build pressure on them.

Dion Myers’ efforts remained in vain as he played a promising innings of 65 unbeaten. He didn’t have anyone from other end to assist him as Indian bowlers made it difficult for Zimbabwe to make their comeback. Falling short, Zimbabwe could manage to score 159/6 in 20 overs.
