“If you get him out in India”: James Anderson on facing the toughest batter

James Anderson, the legendary England fast bowler, has often been regarded as one of the most fearsome and skilled pace bowlers in the modern cricket. Throughout his illustrious career, Anderson has faced many of the world's toughest batters. However, Anderson recently admitted that Indian legendary Sachin Tendulkar was the toughest batter he ever bowled to.
Having more than 700 Test wickets, Anderson is playing the final Test match of his career as he is scheduled to bid adieu to his international career at the end of England's ongoing first Test match against West Indies. Anderson's career has been marked by memorable performances and fierce battles against top-class batsmen.
“The best batter I would have to say is Sachin Tendulkar,” Anderson told Sky Sports.
“I don’t remember having a specific game plan against Sachin Tendulkar. Once he came on, I would just think that I cannot bowl a bad ball here, he was that kind of player.”
“He was a key for India as well. If you get him out in India, the whole atmosphere, in the ground changes. He was such a big wicket,” Anderson said.
“You just try on bowling your best ball, top of off-stump, the whole time and hope he miss a straight one. In England, he might nick the odd one, but generally, I’d try and get him out LBW early. I had some success against him, but he had success against me as well. He got runs against us quite a lot,” Anderson said.
England are locked in the first Test match of the three-match Test series against West Indies at Lord's. England are in a solid position, with West Indies trailing by 171 runs.
