England’s star batter Joe Root has reclaimed the top position in the ICC rankings for Test batters, dethroning New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson. Joe Root has ascended to the top position on the back of strong performances in the recently concluded Test series against West Indies. Root was the top-scorer, amassing 291 runs, involving one century and two half-centuries.
Williamson has slipped to the second position amid Joe Root’s rise. The first time Joe Root held the top spot was in 2015 and now his massive showing with bat has propelled him to reclaim the top spot.
