Former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad passes away aged 71 after battle with cancer

Former Indian cricketer and head coach Anshuman Gaekwad has passed away at the age of 71 following a long battle with blood cancer. Gaekwad was a highly respected and prominent figure in the Indian cricket. During his career, which spanned from 1975 to 1987, he played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India.
Earlier, BCCI had released INR one crore to support Gaekwad’s treatment in London. Later, he was shifted to Vadodara in India where he was treated.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah paid tribute to the former cricketer.
"My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Aunshuman Gaekwad. Heartbreaking for the entire cricket fraternity. May his soul rest in peace," Shah wrote on 'X'.
