SL vs IND 1st ODI: Sri Lanka decide to bat, Iyer, Rahul make comeback

Captaining the team for the first time since taking the reins as Sri Lanka’s ODI skipper, Charith Asalanka decided to bat after winning the toss in the first ODI match against India on Friday at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Sri Lanka, having been hit by a series of injuries to their players, handed the debut to their rising bowler Mohamed Shiraz.

For India, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have made their comeback to the team. KL Rahul was preferred over Rishabh Pant, while Shivam Dube was preferred over Riyan Parag. Shreyas Iyer comes into the team after a long period and this is his first game since losing central contract. More importantly, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are back in action.
