WI vs SA 1st Test, Day 2: South Africa eye rebound after rain ruins day one

News

Due to incessant rainfall, the play on day one of the first Test match between West Indies and South Africa on Wednesday at Queen’s Park Oval could only see 15 overs, with South Africa 45/1 at stumps. South Africa decided to bat after winning the toss as openers Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi made their way out to bat.

South Africa, however, didn’t get the start they wanted after Aiden Markram lost his wicket to Jason Holder for (9). Tony de Zorzi remained composed, guiding South Africa through troubling start. Going into day two, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs will take South Africa’s innings forward and hope for a good total.

On day one, the game was called off earlier than the stipulated time, therefore on day two, proceedings are scheduled to get underway a little earlier than scheduled timing. For West Indies, they demonstrated sheer consistency, with Kemar Roach and Jason Holder bowling in tandem.
