Key figures expected not to play Duleep Trophy
According to reports, several centrally contracted Indian players have been directed to participate in the first round of Duleep Trophy competition, scheduled to begin on September 5. However, it's noteworthy that key figures such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in the competition.
While, players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja are expected to play the competition. The teams for the competition will be selected next month. It is believed that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been given an option to decide for themselves whether or not they will participate in the competition.
One of the opening games of the competition has also been shifted from Anantapur to Bengaluru. Mohammed Shami, who is in the final stages of the rehabilitation, is not expected to feature in the competition.
Next month forward, India have a bustling schedule as they are scheduled to play Bangladesh and New Zealand in home Test assignments before flying out to Australia for the high-profile Border-Gavaskar-Trophy.
