South Africa and West Indies are preparing to lock horns in the second and final Test, beginning Thursday at Providence Stadium, Guyana. Following a closely contested first Test that ended in a draw, both teams will be eager to assert their dominance and secure a series victory.

In the first Test, both teams displayed brilliancy in their game, but neither could land the decisive blow to claim victory. South Africa showed great spirit in both batting and bowling departments, keeping West Indies in check. South Africa’s potent bowling attack was instrumental in controlling West Indies, while their batting was led by Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs and skipper Temba Bavumna. West Indies, however, demonstrated resilience and a fighting spirit to take the game down to a draw.

South Africa's batting was spearheaded by gutsy innings from Tony de Zorzi and Temba Bavuma scoring (78) and (86) respectively in the first innings. They both anchored the innings and provided a solid foundation. Their bowlers, too, were in fine form, with the pacers and spinners exploiting the conditions effectively.

However, the West Indies, led by a gritty knock from Alick Athanaze, scoring (92), managed to stave off defeat with a determined effort in their second innings.

As the teams gear up for the second Test, all eyes will be on the key performers from both sides. For South Africa, the focus will be on their fast bowlers, and spinners, who have the ability to dismantle West Indies. The likes of Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj will again be crucial in providing early breakthroughs and maintaining pressure on West Indies.

The host, West Indies, will also bank on their pace attack, which includes the fiery and experienced Kemar Roach, Jason Holder and Gudakesh Motie to keep South Africa under pressure.

WI probable XI: Kraigg Brathwaite (c), Mikyle Louis, Keacy Carty, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Gudakesh Motie, Jomel Warrican

SA probable XI: Aiden Markram, Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs, Temba Bavuma (c), David Bedingham, Ryan Rickelton, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi
