Samarawickrama comes in for injured Meg Lanning at Trinbago Knight Riders

Injured Meg Lanning has been replaced by Sri Lankan batter Harshitha Samarawickrama at the Trinbago Knight Riders in the ongoing Women’s Caribbean Premier League. 

She becomes the second player from Sri Lanka after Chamari Athapaththu to participate in an overseas league. Samarawickrama’s signing comes at the right time as she remains in swashbuckling form, having contributed significantly to Sri Lanka’s title win at the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. She scored 69 runs unbeaten in the Asia Cup final between Sri Lanka and India.
