Having played a preceding two-match Test series, West Indies and South Africa will once again be back in action as they prepare to face off in the first T20I match of their three-match series on Saturday (12:30 AM IST) at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. The series is going to be a thrilling encounter as both teams will be eager to set the tone for the games ahead.

The two teams recently competed in an enthralling two-match Test series, which offered a lot of competitive action. The first Test ended in a dramatic tie, highlighting the competitive spirit of both sides. South Africa ultimately claimed victory in the second Test, with bowlers and batters shining in tandem.

As the focus shifts to the T20 format, both teams will be looking to capitalise on their recent performances. West Indies, who are known for their explosive batting, will seek to harness home advantage and deliver a powerful start to the series. The pitch at Brian Lara Stadium is also expected to favour conditions for high-scoring games.

On the other hand, South Africa, having a balanced squad, including the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen and Tristan Stubbs, will aim to carry forward their momentum from the Test series. Few of South Africa’s top-class players like Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are not available for the series.

Overall, West Indies will be keen to exploit their home conditions and set a strong precedent, while South Africa will look to establish dominance and build on their recent Test success.

WI Probable XI: Shai Hope (wk), Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, Rovman Powell (c), Sherfane Rutherford, Fabian Allen, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Obed McCoy

SA Probable XI: Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram (c), Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Jason Smith, Bjorn Fortuin, Ottneil Baartman, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi, Kwena Maphaka
