Pakistan’s young star achieves a massively unique Test record

Pakistan remain in full control of the first Test match against Bangladesh being played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. On day one (Wednesday), Pakistan found themselves in a catastrophic situation after early collapse of wickets with Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood losing their wickets without giving any help on a bowler-dominated day.
But centuries from Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan helped Pakistan recover from early debacle and put up a formidable first innings total. Pakistan on day two (Thursday) declared on 448/6d, with Mohammad Rizwan unbeaten on (171).
With the help of his third Test century, Shakeel moved past 1000 Test runs and equalled a unique record from 1959, held by Saeed Ahmed, to become the joint-fastest Pakistan batter to reach the landmark. Saud Shakeel reached the milestone in 11 Tests and 20 innings same as Saeed Ahmed.
