India are gearing up for the high-profile Border-Gavaskar-Trophy, involving five Test matches, against Australia later this year and the bigger question surrounding the highly awaited series is India’s pace attack. India are hoping to continue with their winning streak as they have not lost against Australia since 2014-15 edition. 

India have been outstandingly dominant against Australia in the past editions and one of India’s backbones has been their formidable bowling attack. As the series nears, there is growing sense as to how India’s squad would look like against Australia. India’s pace attack is expected to be led by the trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun has asserted that selectors should also zero in on players in IPL, where bowlers are clocking 140-150 kph. 

"It's a question of identifying the right ones and giving them opportunities to be ready for the Australian trip. There are lots of bowlers who hit 140-150 kph in the IPL. So it is about nurturing and giving them the right exposure," Arun told Indian Express.

"There must be a first time. Red ball cricket is something these bowlers must get used to. We have time but we need to prepare by giving them enough overs under their belt," he said.

Arun further lauded pacer Mohammed Siraj, calling him one of the most dangerous bowlers. 

"Bowling in first-class cricket, you bowl on unresponsive pitches. You have to come out with some guile or you would need to learn how to reverse the ball because of the conditions that exist in our country. I think it helped Siraj and Shami a great deal. That's why when the conditions are right and the ball is reversing, Siraj is probably one of the most dangerous bowlers in world cricket," he said.
