Shubman Gill looking to ameliorate his Test performance

Indian batter Shubman Gill has said that a focused effort on honing his defensive technique, has helped him attain success in the Test cricket. Shubman Gill made waves during India's Test series against England earlier this year, plundering 452 runs in nine innings, including two centuries and two half-centuries. Gill has quickly been able to establish himself as a formidable presence in both Test and white-ball cricket.
"I worked on my defence a little bit more especially against the spinners. Playing on turning tracks, you should be able to defend a lot more. Then you play scoring shots. With more T20 and playing on batting friendly tracks in the white ball, I feel it takes away a little from your defensive game over a period of time. So that was my focus during the England series," Gill said as quoted by PTI ahead of the Duleep Trophy game, where he will lead Team A.
However, Gill is still not satisfied with his performance in Test cricket and admitted that he hasn’t been upto his expectations. In 25 matches, Gill has smashed 1492 runs, having 4 centuries and 6 half-centuries. In white-ball cricket, Gill has been in tremendous form but he has yet to emulate that terrific form in Tests.
"Yes, I've not been up to my own expectations ([n Test cricket]. But we have ten Tests coming up together. Hopefully, after these ten Tests end, I'd be up to my expectations or more."
