Jos Buttler ruled out of Australia T20Is, Salt to lead

England’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler will be on the sidelines for the upcoming T20I series against Australia due to a calf injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed his absence on Thursday. In Buttler’s absence, Phil Salt has been named as stand-in skipper to lead the side in the upcoming series against Australia. 

Jos buttler had sustained the injury ahead of The Hundred, putting him on sidelines for the entire tournament. Meanwhile, this latest setback could extend his time on the sidelines if his recovery takes time. Salt recently stepped up to lead Manchester Originals in this year’s The Hundred tournament in the absence of Buttler.

It is the race against time for Buttler to recover from injury ahead of the ODI series against Australia. The five-match ODI series will begin on September 19.
