Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has expressed high praise for Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, highlighting his potential to be a great Test batsman. Rishabh Pant, who was included into India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh, will return to action to red-ball cricket for the first time in two years.

Rishabh Pant recently made his return to white-ball cricket, appearing for India at the T20I World Cup 2024. In December 2022, Pant was involved in a near-fatal car crash accident that put him out of action for two years, requiring many surgeries.

"I consider Rishabh Pant one of India's best Test batsmen. I'm not surprised that he's back in the side, and he will continue to play for India in Tests," Ganguly said, as quoted by PTI, at a promotional event in Kolkata.

"He will be an all-time great in Tests if he keeps performing like this. For me, he needs to get better in the shorter formats. With the talent he has, I'm sure with time, he will become one of the best."

Pant recently made his appearance in red-ball cricket, playing the Duleep Trophy where he hammered a half-century. Talking about India’s Test series against Bangladesh, India will be hosting Bangladesh for the two-match Test series, beginning on September 19 in Chennai.
