Mahli Beardman joins Australia’s ODI squad

Australia have called up U19 World Cup-winning star Mahli Beardman to the UK to join Australia’s ODI squad ahead of the five-match ODI series against England. Beardman has joined Australian squad as a reserve player because Australia have lost some of the experienced bowlers to injury. The young gun, who has yet to make his first-class debut, could get a chance to play in Australian colour.
Bowlers Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Riley Meredith and Spencer Johnson are out due to their respective injury setbacks. Cooper Connolly, who made his T20I debut against Scotland, will also remain with the squad, having initially been added to the T20I squad only. Pat Cummins was rested for the UK tour so that he could focus on strengthening and conditioning ahead of the five-match home Test series (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) against India later this year.
Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood warmed the benches with a calf strain during the Scotland T20Is, which Australia won 2-1. However, Australia have been bolstered by the arrival of Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Glenn Maxwell.
Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (capt), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey (wk), Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Cameron Green, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis (wk), Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa | Traveling reserve: Mahli Beardman
