KL Rahul compared to Aussie legend Mark Waugh

Indian fielding coach T Dilip has praised Indian batter KL Rahul for his fielding skills, comparing him to the Australian great Mark Waugh. Waugh was considered to be one of the best slip fielders for Australia during his playing days. Recently, in India’s first Test match against Bangladesh, KL Rahul demonstrated his fielding skills, grabbing a quick catch at the second slip to remove Bangladesh’s veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim. T Dilip highlighted KL’s ability as to how smartly he grabbed the ball.

"The best part of this catch was  KL was following with his hands. Nice, soft hands to finish it but by the time, if you see, he finishes, he literally finishes behind his body. If you keep having that proper position where you either open up the hips or slightly open the toe, it helps follow the ball even if it's slightly behind. And that was the technique you see the great Mark Waugh used to do. Even when the ball goes behind the body, if you open that hip, or open that little door, it allows you to continue in that path. And that was a great example," Dilip said in a video posted by the BCCI.

While KL Rahul would have missed on scoring runs but his efforts in fielding played a key role India’s enthralling 280-run win against. India’s second and final Test against Bangladesh will begin on September 27 in Kanpur.
