R Ashwin shatters Anil Kumble’s record
Unstoppable Indian veteran Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved the record for the most Test wickets taken in Tests in Asia, surpassing legendary Indian spinner Anil Kumble. Ashwin now becomes the first Indian with most Test wickets in Asia. R Ashwin achieved this milestone during the first day of India’s second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur on Friday by claiming the wicket of Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, solidifying his status as one of the best bowlers in the modern game.
Ashwin now tops the list with 420 wickets claimed in Asia by an Indian. Meanwhile, Anil Kumble is on the second place with 419 wickets.
Prior to this historic achievement, Ashwin had already made headlines in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, performing brilliantly with both bat and ball. His all-round performance included a superb century, and six wickets, showcasing his prowess in a variety of conditions. India are already leading the two-match Test series against Bangladesh 1-0.
