Mohammad Yusuf, former Pakistan cricketer, has stepped down from his role on Pakistan’s selection committee, citing personal reasons for his decision. He was one of the five remaining members on the committee.

“I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket,” Yousuf wrote on X, (formerly twitter).

Shortly after, Pakistan Cricket Board released a statement saying that Yusuf had stepped down voluntarily to focus on other major responsibilities. Meanwhile, Yusuf will continue to serve as a batting coach at the PCB’s National High Performance Centre.

“The PCB expresses its sincere gratitude to Mohammad Yousuf for his invaluable contributions during his tenure as a selection committee member,” the PCB said in a statement.

“Yousuf will continue to play a pivotal role at the PCB, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience as the batting coach at the high performance center.”

After Pakistan’s disastrous show at the T20I World Cup 2024, PCB had sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq in July from the selection committee. Yusuf’s resignation is the latest development in the PCB. Pakistan recently named the squad for the first of three Test matches against England, beginning on October 7 in Multan.
