Sri Lanka appoint Sanath Jayasuriya as full-time head coach

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed legendary cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya as the full-time head coach of the men’s cricket team. Jayasuriya will continue to be at the helm until March 31, 2026.
"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce the appointment of Sanath Jayasuriya as the head coach of the national team. The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket made this decision taking into consideration the team’s good performances in the recent tours against India, England, and New Zealand, where Jayasuriya was in charge as the ‘interim head coach.'. The appointment came into effect on October 1, 2024, and will remain until March 31, 2026," read the statement from Sri Lanka cricket.
Earlier, Jayasuriya was appointed as the interim head coach after the T20I World Cup 2024 and under his leadership Sri Lanka have had fruitful outcomes in their recent assignments. Jayasuriya’s appointment came into effect on October 1.
