Shane Watson predicts big series for Pant in Australia

Former Australian all-rounder and a prominent figure in Australian cricket Shane Watson recently praised Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, forecasting a commanding performance for him in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Pant’s return to Test cricket after a long period marks a significant milestone in his career, particularly following his recovery from a severe car accident in December 2022.
After a lengthy rehabilitation process, Pant made an emphatic comeback to the international arena. During India’s recent Test series against Bangladesh, he demonstrated his prowess by scoring a century. Pant’s sizzling form back in 2021 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia also prompted Watson to predict a big series for Rishabh Pant.
"He's [Pant] obviously got great memories from his last tour that he had from a batting perspective in Australia. That innings he played at the Gabba was something very special. So knowing that he's come through his challenges in the last couple of years to be able to come back as an even better player than what he left off, I think he's going to have a big series,” Watson said on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai.
Shane Watson also felt that Bumrah will be a vital asset for India in Australian conditions.
"Also, Bumrah is someone who in Australian conditions - well, in all conditions really - he's so good. [With] his ability to be able to just take wickets and get batters out, he's going to be very effective in Australia as well. So those two guys, if they have big series, they can really provide Australia some big challenges,” he said.
