“Worst shot of his career”: Former Indian player on Kohli’s dismissal
India find themselves in a difficult situation after being bowled out for (156) in their first innings in response to (259) set by New Zealand after winning the toss in the ongoing second Test in Pune. Team India was left in despair after their top-order batters failed to face the high-octane bowling attack from New Zealand bowlers. With players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma failing to dish out runs, India were left in tatters following a horrible batting collapse.
Meanwhile, Indian batter Virat Kohli’s dismissal caught the attention after he made a poor choice while negotiating a delivery off Mitchell Santner. Virat Kohli could only manage to put up a single run off nine balls before losing his wicket. Reacting to Kohli’s dismissal, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said that it was the “worst shot of his career”.
"Oh dear! Virat will know himself that he has just played the worst shot of his career to get out. Got to feel for him...coz as always he came out with solid & honest intent," Manjrekar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
New Zealand batters, on the other hand, caused havoc steering the side to (259) in their first innings, with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra stepping up with their scores of (76) and (65) respectively.
