KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel to depart early for Australia

Indian batters KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel are set to head to Australia to join the India A squad to get some game time ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The rest of the squad will be flying out later but these two batters will leave early to play India A’s final unofficial red-ball match against Australia A in Melbourne.

The second and final four-day game will begin on November 7. As for KL Rahul, he was recently left out of India’s final two Tests against New Zealand due to his poor form. He featured in the first Test but could only manage to score (0) and (12) respectively. India, however, lost the series 0-3, with New Zealand dominating the side across all departments.

On the other hand, Dhruv Jurel, who made his Test debut against England earlier this year, hasn’t been seen in action in the last five home Test matches. One of the key reasons behind his absence is Rishabh Pant’s comeback to the team. Indian team, meanwhile, is set to depart for Australia on November 10. The first Test against Australia will begin on November 22 in Perth. Notably, India also scrapped their practice match against India A in order to participate in the centre-wicket simulation session.
