Lockie Ferguson ruled of ODI series against Sri Lanka

New Zealand all-rounder Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a calf injury, which he picked up during the series-levelling second T20I match against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.

Lockie will be heading back to New Zealand, with Adam Milne being called up as a replacement. Ferguson played a key role in New Zealand’s victory in the second game, helping the side defend (108) with his hat-trick.

"We're gutted for Lockie. He showed in the space of just two overs what an asset he is with the ball and he's also brought a lot of leadership to this group, so he'll be a big miss heading into an important ODI series for us. To be ruled out so early in a tour is always tough to take, but we're hopeful his recovery will be short and he'll be back out on the field in no time,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said.

"Adam is a like-for-like replacement who brings genuine pace and plenty of international experience, so we're looking forward to welcoming him into the group."

The three-match ODI series will begin on November 13 with the first game in Dambulla.
