Young Indian batter Tilak Varma stood up for the team at the right time as he powered the side to an 11-run victory, helping the side secure an unbeaten 3-0 lead in the four-match series on Wednesday at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Varma plundered (107) unbeaten off (56) to lead the side to a massive total of 219/6 in (20) overs.

For his eye-catching performance, Varma was handed ‘Player of the Match’ award. His rocking innings involved eight fours and seven sixes. Speaking during the post-match presentation, Tilak Varma thanked skipper Suryakumar Yadav for letting him have the opportunity to bat at no.3.

“I cannot put it in words. It was my dream to play for the country and my hundred came at the right time . All credit goes to captain Mr. Suryakumar Yadav. He gave me the opportunity to bat at 3 and before the game he told me to bat at no.3. I’m really happy and thankful to Surya. I just backed my basics. Even when I was under pressure, I was just following my basics,” Tilak Varma said during the post-match presentation.

In the first and second games, Tilak Varma could only manage to score (33 off 18) and (20 off 20) respectively. But, this time, he announced himself with a gritty knock. With the century, Varma also became the second-youngest batter to score a T20I hundred.
