AUS vs IND 2nd Test, Day 2: India turn the screw as Jaiswal, Rahul remain unbeaten

In a brilliant turn of events in the ongoing first Test between India and Australia in Perth, India has managed to gain a significant lead after a dominant performance on Day 2 on Saturday in Perth. After dismissing Australia for a meagre 104 in their first innings, India’s openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul faced the Australian bowlers with relative ease, further consolidating their position on a pitch that has shown signs of both bounce and turn. At stumps on day two, both Jaiswal and Rahul remained unbeaten on 90 and 62 to hand India a staggering 218-run lead.
The standout performance of the match so far has been from India’s fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was instrumental in dismantling the Australian batting lineup. Bumrah’s tremendous spell left the Australian batsmen struggling, as he scalped five crucial wickets. With their batters failing to remain up to the task, Australia crumbled to just 104 runs in their first innings.
The Australian batsmen, including key players like Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith, failed to get going, leaving the team in a precarious position. Coming to bat in their second innings, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul demonstrated a sense of calm and confidence. Despite the early challenges posed by the Australian bowlers, the duo seemed unperturbed and displayed solid technique to see off the threat.
Earlier, on day one day, India had their own troubles with the bat after deciding to bat first. The pitch, while offering assistance to the bowlers, did not seem overly difficult, but the Indian batsmen struggled to settle. From the very start, India were put under huge pressure by Australian bowlers as they could only put up 150 in their first innings.
