West Indies announce squad for Bangladesh ODIs, name two changes
West Indies have announced their squad for the three-match home ODI series against Bangladesh, with all-rounder Justin Greaves and uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo earning a call-up to the squad. The 15-member squad, which includes the likes of Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Alzarri Joseph and Shimron Hetmyer, will be led by Shai Hope.
To include Justin Greaves and Amir Jangoo, West Indies dropped Hayden Walsh Jnr and batter Jewel Andrew. Justin Greaves and Amir Jangoo were included into the squad on the back of some powerful performances in domestic cricket. Meanwhile, Brandon King will serve as deputy to Shai Hope.
“We continue to build towards the main target of the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup where we are looking to broaden the pool of players even with the short-term objectives of winning series, especially at home and building momentum on the recent win against England," West Indies head coach Daren Sammy said.
Speaking on the inclusion of Justin Greaves and Amir Jangoo, Sammy said, ”Greaves is capable of batting anywhere in the top six and brings that genuine all-round ability to the squad, which is welcomed at this stage. Jangoo's prowess in the CG United Super50 shows his flexibility to bring another dimension to our batting unit."
