"Haven't been disciplined enough": Virat Kohli
Indian batting legend Virat Kohli has admitted that he hasn't been up to the task in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli has faced a challenging time so far in the series, registering small scores in the last encounters. Kohli has failed to give tough times to Australian bowlers despite having started the series with a promising century. So far, he has registered the scores of 5, 100*, 7, 11 and 3 in last three matches. Kohli is expected to repay the faith in the fourth (Boxing Day) encounter in Melbourne. Ahead of the fourth Test, Kohli, in conversation with Ravi Shastri, noted that he hasn't been disciplined enough.
"I mean, if you would have told us we're gonna be one all heading into Boxing Day Test, we would have taken it with both hands. Yeah, I agree last 2 or 3 innings haven't gone the way I wanted to. I haven't been disciplined enough to stick in there and grind it out and that's what the challenge that Tests bring," Kohli said while speaking to former India head coach Ravi Shastri.
"These pitches are, are much livelier than the last time that we played here, so there's a different approach that's required, but that's something that I've taken a lot of pride in to go out there and encounter different conditions and step up when the team wants me to or needs me to," Kohli said.
Currently, the five-match series is tied 1-1 after India recorded victory in the first game and Australia in second. The third Test had ended in a draw.
