BPL 2024-25: All you need to know, squads, teams

The stage is set for another electrifying season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as the 2024-25 edition kicks off on December 30 with the clash between Fortune Barishal and Durbar Rajshasi.

This season, all eyes will be on Fortune Barishal, who enter the tournament as the defending champions. Fortune Barishal broke their championship drought last season, clinching their maiden BPL title in a thrilling finale. They will be looking to replicate their success and prove that last season’s triumph was no fluke. Seven teams will be competing in the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played on February 7 as there will 42 matches across the tournament including playoffs and final. 

The seven teams in the tournament are Chittagong Kings, Dhaka Capitals, Durbar Rajshahi, Fortune Barishal, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Strikers

The tournament will be held across three venues: Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, (Chattogram), Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, (Mirpur), and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (Sylhet)

The top four teams at the end of the group stage will advance to the knockout stage. The top-two teams will clash in the Qualifier 1, while the teams sitting on third and fourth place will meet in the eliminator. The winner of the Qualifier 1 will storm into final. The team losing in Qualifier 1 will take on the winner of the Eliminator in the Qualifier 2 and the winner of the Qualifier 2 will square off against the winner of Qualifier 1 in the BPL final.
