Akash Deep ruled out of Sydney Test

Indian pacer Akash Deep has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia due to a back issue. Akash Deep's absence was confirmed by Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir during the pre-match press conference.
Akash secured five wickets in the Brisbane and Melbourne Test. He returned with the figures of 1/95 and 2/28 in the third Test, which was held in Gabba, of the series. In the Melbourne Test, he took two wickets in the first innings but failed to claim any wickets in the second innings despite showing significant consistency.
"Akash Deep is out because he has got a back issue," Gambhir said in the press conference.
His exclusion comes at a critical time, with the series poised on a knife-edge. The final Test will be instrumental in determining the fate of team India for the World Test Championshp final. Moreover, it remains a must-win battle for India in order to level the series.
Currently, Australia are leading the series 2-1. With Akash Deep out of the equation, India are expected to turn to one of the other pace bowlers in the squad to fill the gap.
Indian squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep (ruled out), Mohammed Siraj, Sarfaraz Khan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Prasidh Krishna, Shubman Gill, Devdutt Padikkal, Tanush Kotian, Dhruv Jurel, Harshit Rana
