Jasprit Burman drops fitness update amidst ‘Bed Rest’ reports
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has broken his silence on the recent reports suggesting that he had been advised bed rest ahead of the Champions Trophy. On Wednesday, as per a Times of India report, it was reported that Bumrah has been advised bed rest due to swelling on his back. The report further stated that he will report to Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for treatment.
Reacting to it, Jasprit Bumrah termed the report as unreliable. The report had raised concern over his participation in the mega Champions Trophy tournament, which is set to begin on February 19.
“I know fake news is easy to spread, but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable,” Bumrah stated on X.
With high-profile Champions Trophy around the corner, BCCI has not yet provided any update on Bumrah’s fitness. Bumrah had suffered back spasms during the fifth and final Test against Australia, which prevented him from bowling in the latter half of the match.
However, he was the most outstanding bowler in the series, nabbing 32 wickets in nine innings. BCCI is also likely to name India’s squad for the Champions Trophy ahead of the deadline. India will begin their campaign by facing Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
