Rohit to keep his position as captain for Champions Trophy

Rohit Sharma will keep his position as captain for the upcoming ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy. The confirmation comes ahead of a press conference scheduled for January 18, where the squads for both events will be unveiled. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Rohit Sharma will attend the the press conference scheduled for January 18. 

India are set to play three ODIs against England in what is their last ODI assignment ahead of the high-octane Champions Trophy. India will be playing their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai as they will begin their campaign on February 20 by clashing with Bangladesh.

Recently, Rohit Sharma’s future became the centre of attention after he opted out of India’s final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Sydney. However, he later explained the reason behind sitting out of the final Test. Recently, Rohit Sharma also joined the Mumbai Squad for the training sessions ahead of the start of the second phase of the Ranji Trophy.
