Iyer, Shami included in India’s full-strength squad for Champions Trophy
India have named their squad for the Champions Trophy, with Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami making their return to the side. Shami's inclusion marks his return to the ODIs for the first time since the ODI World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal has received a maiden ODI call-up. Kuldeep Yadav has also been picked up for India’s provisional squad for the Champions Trophy.
India will also be playing a three-match ODI series against England ahead of the Champions Trophy. The same squad will face England in the three-match ODI series. The series against England is set to begin on February 6 followed by the second and third ODIs on February 9 and 12. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be playing India's first two ODIs against England, with Harshit Rana coming into the squad as cover.
Notably, Mohammed Siraj has been left out of the 15-member squad, with Arshdeep Singh being added to the side. India will start their Champions Trophy campaign on February 20 by facing Bangladesh in Dubai. And, on February 23 they will take on Pakistan in a blockbuster clash.
