Pant to be named LSG’s skipper: Reports

Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is reportedly set to be named the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The reports surface on the heels of Pant’s record-breaking signing at the IPL 2024 auction, where he was roped in for an eye-popping INR 27 crore, making him the costliest player in IPL history.
In the past three seasons, KL Rahul led LSG. He led the side to the playoffs in the first two seasons, however third season ended in huge disappointment for them.
Ahead of the auction, LSG had released KL Rahul, however they retained players like Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan. During the auction, LSG outlasted SRH to acquire Pant at INR 20.75 crore and then raised the amount to INR 27 crore to restrict right-to-match bid from Delhi Capitals.
