Shami bowls at full tilt during India’s training session ahead of England T20Is
As team India prepares for its upcoming T20 series against England, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is making sure he’s back in top form. This series also marks Shami’s first international appearance since the ODI World Cup 2023, where he was a vital part of India’s campaign, emerging as the highest wicket-taker. Shami has spent months battling an ankle injury that eventually required surgery.
Despite making recovery from the ankle surgery, Shami was not included into India’s squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to swelling on his knee. Shami, meanwhile, has been a key figure of India’s fast bowling unit but his fitness has been a long-standing issue for the side.
Apart from T20Is against England, he has also been added to India’s squad for the ODIs against England and the Champions Trophy. As the T20 series against England looms, Shami put in huge efforts during India’s training session on Sunday, bowling at full tilt. Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel was observing Shami’s progress very closely. The first T20I will be played on January 22 at Eden Gardens. The T20Is and ODIs against England will present a timely opportunity for Shami to get himself ready for the Champions Trophy.
