IND vs ENG: Indian batting coach drops update on Shami ahead of third T20I

The ongoing T20I series between India and England has drawn attention not just for India’s eye-catching performances but also for the notable absence of Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. Despite being part of the squad, Shami has not featured in the first two matches. This omission is particularly intriguing as Shami has not played any international cricket since the ODI World Cup 2023.
India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak addressed the situation, stating unequivocally that there are no fitness issues with Shami. However, he refrained from revealing the reason behind Shami’s absence in the first two games.
"Shami is fit. Yes. I am not the one who can answer. So, that is something the coach Gautam and obviously Surya and they will take a call. But, fitness definitely is not a problem depending on how they are planning to build his load," he said during the press conference.
Additionally, with the ICC Champions Trophy on the horizon, this series is a big platform for Shami to fine-tune his bowling abilities. Meanwhile, the clarification from batting coach has put to rest any speculation that his absence might be due to any injury setback.
