Indian star Virat Kohli, who has been grappling with recurring dismissals in the same fashion, is facing an unusual slump in his career. Recently, Kohli's troubles have been especially prominent against spinners, with Thursday’s match against Bangladesh in the ongoing Champions Trophy, marking his sixth dismissal at the hands of a spinner.

Kohli’s issues have come under the microscope, with many suggesting that the spinner's grip on his technique has been a major factor in his ongoing difficulty to score big. Recently, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also shared his views on Kohli’s repeated dismissals against spinners.

"It is to a great extent due to the fact that the bat face opens up; the same thing happens when he's playing against the quicks in Australia,”  Gavaskar said as quoted by India Today.

"The bat face is opening up, looking to play through the covers, opening the face of the bat, that gets him into trouble. So that is something that he's got to watch out for.”

"A couple of times before he got out, he reached for Rishad, the ball turned, the bat face opened, and luckily the bat face opened, and so there was no nick. So that is something that he'll have to tighten up on now," he added.

Meanwhile, India got off to a wonderful start in the Champions Trophy, beating Bangladesh by six wickets in their opening encounter. They are now set to face arch-rival Pakistan in their second match on Sunday in Dubai.
